People and Open Lab Hours
We encourage you to post questions on the course Piazza page so that other students can also benefit from these questions or answer them. But when you need individualized help, feel free to attend staff office hours or open lab hours
All open lab hours by teaching assistants (TAs) and lab assistants (LAs) are held in VHE 205 and the hours they will be there are posted via the calendar below. They may change periodically so just check it before you go to VHE for help.
Open Lab Hours Policies
Please be aware of and follow some basic procedures with open lab hours:

The TAs and LAs are not responsible for doing your lab assignments for you. Their job is to provide help and advice but ultimately you are responsible for working on your own circuit and code and solving problems that arise.

Typically, we will spend 5-7 minutes before moving on to help other students.

While we will do our best to help, sometimes errors are buried under a lot of code. We likely cannot dig fully into your specific implementation. So, you should be prepared to say what you’ve done to try to find the source of the issue and/or the solution.
- Always check for compile errors and warnings. A compile warning won’t prevent the program from compiling but it may still be very important as to whether it will execute correctly.
- Have you compared your syntax to examples in the slides?
- If you have a bug as the program runs, can you make use of test equipment like the oscilloscope to see what is happening?
- Have you commented out sections of code until you can get something to work and then added portions back in? If the answer is no, our staff may ask you to do that first.

Teaching Assistants
The EE109 teaching assistants (TAs) hold office hours in VHE 205. Their office hours are posted on the calendar above and also by the door inside VHE 205. Temporary changes to the office hours will be posted to the class Piazza site. TAs can help with homeworks, exam preparation, and some lab questions.

Lab Assistants
The EE109 lab assistants (formerly known as Course Producers) will staff the VHE 205 lab room during open lab hours (generally 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Mon-Thurs and some hours on Friday) when the room is not used by other courses or lab sections. The times they will be there are posted on the calendar above and also by the door inside VHE 205. Temporary changes to the lab hours will be posted to the class Piazza site. They can provide advice or ad-hoc mentoring as you perform your lab tasks.
