Initial Announcements and Course Information
- NOTE: More information will be added to this page as we get
it (e.g., complete staffing and links will become live).
- How to access the online lecture (for
DEN students): You can get
to the live lecture link, or the recorded lectures after the
fact, from your brighspace account (in Brightspace, select
the Content tab and it will be an option on the left side).
- About the e-textbook The electronic
version of the required textbook has a lot of useful
interactive features, including small on-line coding
exercises. It's quite affordable (starting at ~$50) to rent
or buy this ebook, available at vitalsource.com: Big Java Early Objects, 7th ed.
For the readings and more information about how to use the textbook
see the week-by-week link at the left.
- Brightspace Selected course materials that aren't on
this website, including all of your course grades and lecture links, will be
available on USC's learning management system accessible at
brightspace.usc.edu. There's a link to
brightspace at left.
Note: we are not using the DEN d2l Brightspace, but rather
the USC-wide instance.
- Registering for piazza Electronic
discussion forums and subsequent course announcements will be
available on piazza.com. You will get an invitation to join
our page sometime during the first week of classes. This is also
linked at left.
- Connecting to Vocareum You will be enrolled in
our Vocareum course page when classes start once you are registered in
the class and access the first lab using the link from brightspace. The first
lab will introduce you to Vocareum.
